theartmarket is an independent arts space in the heart of Leeds. It was set up by Zoe Sawyer and Anna Tonks in late 2006. The studio/ gallery/ shop provides a showcase for contemporary art in Leeds. Set up in a vacant market unit theartmarket raises visibility of art in the city centre. theartmarket operates through collaboration with creative associates and its extended artist and volunteer network. Co-curating the programme with different artists and curators on a 'project by project' basis. The set-up allows easy access to the space, giving new artists and curators opportunity to gain experience and showcase their individual talents.
