email.

This is the email i have sent out to a few artists and collectives in leeds explaining the idea and to see if anyone will be interested in this exhibition.

Articulate invite you to take part in an exhibition with a difference.
Inspired by the D.I.Y ethic that seems to epitomise both the art and music scene in Leeds, we will be hosting an exhibition in a home. We feel that your work contributes greatly to this image of Leeds as a city where people create their own opportunities. In order to fully demonstrate the resourcefulness and ingenuity of artists and collectives in Leeds we are looking to bring as many of these people as possible together in our one night exhibition.
The exhibition will take place in early to mid June (we will aim to set a date which is convenient for everyone involved) and will allow you to express yourself in any medium. There is no set brief or guide-lines so this is an chance to either create new work within the space (which will be one room per artist or collective) or use the space to exhibit existing pieces. The only rule is that you must either use or work around whatever is already in the room (I.e. light fittings, fireplaces etc).
You will be given one day to prepare and set up the room of your choice and the exhibition will take place the following evening. We are aiming to fill every room in the house with artists’ work, including the kitchen, bathroom and basement! Overall there are nine rooms so feel free to recommend other artists or collectives working in the Leeds area.

This is a unique opportunity to express your originality in unusual surroundings, alongside other talented artists from out wonderful city!
We look forward to hearing from you as soon as possible,
Articulate.
